Board of Directors

Matthew has been at the forefront of driving innovation and meaningful transformations within the Canadian legal services industry. His extensive strategic business and operations experience has been the driving force behind Dye & Durham’s exceptional growth. Matthew is passionate about the continual reinforcement of Dye & Durham’s vision, values, and goals in everything the business does.


He holds a BA (Hons.) from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor of Law degree.


Matthew Proud

Tyler Proud is currently Chairman on the Board of Dye & Durham. In addition to his position at Dye & Durham, Tyler Proud is also the CEO of Avesdo (formerly Yongle Technologies), providers of a seamless and intuitive sales management software for new home developments. Tyler holds an MBA from the University of Toronto.


Tyler also previously served as a committee member at University Health Network (Toronto), transplants. The program has yielded life-changing advances in transplantation techniques, care and research.


Tyler is fond of leisure activities such as dog walking, skiing and golfing.


Tyler Proud

In addition to being the lead independent director on the Board of Dye & Durham, Mr. Derksen currently serves on Board of Directors of 3 other companies, including Oneok, Inc, Fish Technologies LLC and Brookshire Grocery Company.


Mr. Derksen had a 36-year career with Deloitte before retiring in 2014. During his tenure with Deloitte, he held many senior management roles including, for the last 11 years, the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Derksen served on Deloitte’s Global Board of Directors for 12 years.


Mr. Derksen also previously served on the national Board of the American Red Cross, the national Board of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Visitors of Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. Mr. Derksen is a resident of Dallas, Texas.

Brian L. Derksen

Mr. Fowlie has served as a director of Dye & Durham since August 2018. From March 2011 to April 2017, Mr. Fowlie was the President and CEO of RDM Corporation, a public company providing specialized hardware and software solutions in the electronic payment industry. Mr. Fowlie operated a consulting practice from July 2006 to March 2011. From January 2005 until July 2006, Mr. Fowlie held the position of Vice President and General Manager, Digital Media, of Harris Corporation, formerly Leitch Technology Corporation (Leitch), a company that was engaged in the design, development, and distribution of audio and video infrastructure to the professional video industry. Harris Corporation acquired Leitch in August 2005.


From June 1999 to January 2005, Mr. Fowlie held the position of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Inscriber Technology Corporation (Inscriber), a computer software company and from February 1998 to June 1999 Mr. Fowlie was the Chief Financial Officer of Inscriber. Inscriber was acquired by Leitch in January 2005. Prior to Inscriber, Mr. Fowlie was a partner with KPMG LLP, Chartered Accountants, where he worked from 1984 to February 1998.


Mr. Fowlie is currently a director of Open Text Corporation, a public company traded on the TSX and NASDAQ exchanges. Mr. Fowlie is also a director of InvestorCom Inc. In the last five years, Mr. Fowlie served as a director of RDM Corporation. Mr. Fowlie received a B.B.A. (Honours) from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.


Randy Fowlie

CEO, Dye & Durham

Craig Ferguson is responsible for transaction origination, execution and portfolio management of private equity and mezzanine investments, including direct investments and fund investments. Craig is on the Board of Directors of several companies and Advisory Boards of investment funds in Canada and the U.S.


Craig joined Manulife Capital in 2011 and has over 15 years of investment experience. Prior to joining Manulife Capital, Craig was with McKenna Gale Capital, where he was involved with originating, structuring, and managing private equity and mezzanine investments. Previously Craig also worked in the lending groups of GE Capital and CIT Group, after having begun his career with KPMG.


Craig holds an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, is a Chartered Professional Accountant, a Chartered Accountant, and a CFA charterholder.

Craig Ferguson
