Hans T. Gieskes is a veteran information services executive, chairman and director, as well as a mergers and acquisitions advisor. Mr. Gieskes is an expert in corporate transformation and turnarounds, having helped steer large corporations through the transition from physical printing to digital publishing, the dotcom era and the modern software age.
Mr. Gieskes held senior roles at RELX, a multi-national information and analytics company, for over two decades, including as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the LexisNexis Group, a leading global provider of legal research, information services and risk-management solutions, between 1997 and 2000. During his tenure, he managed LexisNexis’ transition from CD-ROM to internet and web browser technology and oversaw the acquisition and integration of Matthew Bender and Shepard’s Citations. Mr. Gieskes also served as the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Houghton Mifflin Company (now Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Company), a publishing company, between 2002 and 2003 and led the company through its sale to a consortium of private investment firms comprised of Thomas H. Lee Partners, Bain Capital and funds managed by The Blackstone Group.
Mr. Gieskes was the Group President and Chief Executive Officer of Cision AB (formerly STO: CISI), a public relations and communications software company, between 2008 and 2013. In that period, Cision completed nine divestments and made significant improvements to its debt levels, EBITDA and market capitalization.
More recently, Mr. Gieskes was the Chairman of OneOcean Group Limited, a maritime software company, from June 2017 to August 2022 and the Chairman of AXIO Data Group, a portfolio of information businesses, from September 2013 to May 2017. In addition, he was a member of the Board of Directors of Intelligize.com, a legal software company owned by LexisNexis, from September 2008 to September 2016.
Mr. Gieskes holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Business Administration from the Netherlands Institute of Marketing. Mr. Gieskes resides in Westwood, Massachusetts.
