Internet & Network Performance Issues Throughout Vancouver &

April 29, 2010

Dear valued client, Please note the following information from Shared Services BC:

Please be advised that we are experiencing major Internet and network traffic issues between Vancouver and Victoria. This is due to a network fibre (submarine) cable break that has occurred off of Point Roberts.  Repair crews are currently working to address the issue.  SSBC is working closely with our vendors to implement alternate network routes as quickly as possible.

Due to the temporarily reduced network capacity, users will experience slower performance.  The areas of the province most impacted are as follows:

Customers are asked to minimize usage of the network for large downloads, file transfers etc., until this issue is resolved.

This incident has the highest priority for resolution.

Thank you
