Dye & Durham FYI -Change in Filing Procedure at New Westminster Court Registry

August 22, 2006

Dear Clients,Please be advised that commencing August 21,2006 New Westminster Courthouse will be implementing a “File by Number System”. The Bench & Bar Association has informed the New Westminster Court that this practice is being implemented to ensure the Registry Agents and the general public have equal time at the counter for filing. Restrictions as to the amount of documents to be filed at one time will be imparted on all Registry Agents. Thus, if the amount allotted by the court exceeds the recommended filing limit per counter visit (10 invoices), Agents will be asked to leave the counter, pull another number and stand in line to resume their filing (10 invoices) and so on. Dye & Durham will make every effort to ensure that your documents continue to be filed and returned in a timely manner.  We are urging clients to take into consideration the courts new policy when diarizing your documents to provide enough time for rush filings. We will keep you up to date regaring this matter via our FYI system.  In the meantime if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our Dye & Durham Litigation Division at 604-257-1820.
