Dear Valued Client,In order to clarify the situation with respect to Vancouver court scheduling, we have made the necessary inquiries and have compiled the information along with links to official documentation for your reference. All courts will be open during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, with the following additional details:Supreme Court – There will be no Supreme Court Civil or Criminal Jury Trials During the Olympics. No criminal cases involving police witnesses will be heard throughout the province during this time. Please click here
for further details and specific dates.Court of Appeal – The BC Court of Appeal will not be scheduling regular Court sittings during the weeks of February 8, 15 and 22, 2010. to view the official posting of this information.Small Claims Court – Small Claims Court will be open through out the Olympics however no trials will be heard. They will not be taking any new applications during the Olympics unless it is an emergency application with grounds. All currently scheduled hearings have been moved to other jurisdictions and the parties have already received notification as to where they will take place. Due to the security measures the only access to the registry will be through the Smithe Street entrance and it will require any and all parties to go through security screening each time they enter the building. They strongly suggest that any documents that need to be filed to be sent in electronically.
