Changes to the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act

Dear Clients, Bill S-10, A second Act to harmonize federal law with the civil law of the Province of Quebec and to amend certain Acts in order to ensure that each language version takes into account the common law and the civil law  received Royal Assent on December 15, 2004, at which time its provisions came into force.  The full version of the legislation can be found at, then search for Bill S-10. 38th Parliament, 1st session.The most noteworthy change is to S. 43 of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act which changes a petition for a receiving order to an application for a bankruptcy order.  This section is attached for your information.
