BCGEU Strike Update

September 5, 2012

Dear Valued Client,

On August 29th, it was announced that an estimated 25,000 members of the B.C. Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU), 1,250 members of the Professional Employees Association (PEA), and 720 members of the Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union Local 378 (COPE 378) will be a part of the strike in 153 B.C. communities during regular government working hours on Wednesday, September 5th. Businesses that will be affected include government liquor stores, ICBC and any unionized government office.

While Dye & Durham respects these union members’ rights to take job action, we want to reassure our clients that Dye & Durham will continue to register and file applications on your behalf. We will endeavor to ensure all files are dealt with promptly. We received confirmation that there will be no physical access to BC Registries in Victoria (Corporate Registry) on Wednesday September 5th, and consequently we may be unable to attend at BC Registries this day. We will keep you apprised.

The Land Title & Survey Authority along with Court Services will not be impacted by this one day strike.
