Video Tutorials From Courthouse Libraries BC

March 9, 2012

As noted recently on Slaw, Courthouse Libraries BC has produced an ever-growing collection of legal research video tutorials, available for free at www.courthouselibrary.ca.

These high-quality, helpful tutorials cover topics such as:

  • Researching legislation (tracing history, noting up, legislative intent)
  • Finding precedents (using CLE Online, the CLBC catalogue, or O’Brien’s Forms)
  • Finding Cases on Point (finding and noting up cases using CLE online, CanLII, and the CED)

The “Finding Cases on Point” series can even be taken for CPD credit through the Law Society Online Learning Centre. These videos are a fantastic resource for anyone looking to understand legal research in more depth, or just needing to brush up on their research skills.
