The University of Victoria Faculty of Law has announced the lineup of events celebrating their 40th anniversary. Festivities run Friday, March 6 to Sunday, March 8, 2015.
The weekend kicks off with an open house on the Friday, which will include entertainment (alumni and student bands), appetizers and a cash bar. Dean Jeremy Webber will speak, school archives will be on display and tours of the Diana M. Priestly Law Library will be offered.
On the Saturday there will be an afternoon anniversary panel lecture at which “some of the school’s most cherished individuals share key moments in UVic Law’s history.” In the evening there will be a gala dinner to honour the school’s founding members and the ongoing service and contribution of its alumni. According to the Winter 2014 issue of Vistas magazine, “Anne Fraser, wife of founding Dean Murray Fraser, will attend Saturday night’s dinner.” The article also notes that other events will be announced in due course.
Alumni are encouraged to get involved in the anniversary weekend by organizing a class fundraiser or a class dinner for Friday night, or by sharing their talents by entertaining at the Open House.
Anyone interested or with questions should contact Erin Hallett at the Alumni Relations Office, at [email protected] or (250) 853-3518. Registration for the events is available online, and a discount at the Inn at Laurel Point is also being offered (quote “40th Anniversary of UVic Faculty of Law” to get the special room rate).
