Recent UVic Law PhD graduate, Dr. Ania Zbyszewska, is the winner of the prestigious prize for best PhD thesis of 2013 from the University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES).
Zbyszewska’s thesis, “Gendering the European Working-Time Regimes – The Universe of Political Discourse, Working-Time Regulation, and Gender Equality in the Wider European Union and in Poland” was completed under the supervision of UVic Law Professor Judy Fudge, and committee members Professor Oliver Schmidtke and Professor Amy Verdun.
UACES is the largest European Studies professional association in the world and is based in the United Kingdom. UACES awards the PhD prize to a PhD student for an outstanding performance “that has made the most substantial and original contribution to knowledge in the area of contemporary European studies.”
