The Vancouver Association of Law Libraries (VALL) has announced its February guest speaker: George Tsiakos from the UBC Law Library. Mr. Tsiakos’ presentation will be on “Continuing Student Development”, and the Law Library’s role in teaching legal research and writing skills to law students.
Mr. Tsiakos will discuss how the UBC Law Library initially became involved in the program, its current responsibilities and evolving role. He will highlight the skills taught in both the upper year advanced legal research courses, as well as the newly developed first year legal research and writing course.
George Tsiakos is currently the Instruction Librarian at the UBC Law Library. Over the past five years, he has taught legal research and writing as an adjunct professor at UBC Law, and currently coordinates and teaches in the Faculty’s Legal Research and Writing program.
For those with an interest in the current state of law student research training, VALL offers a non-member price to attend. This month’s seminar will be held on February 19th, beginning at 11:45 at the Shangri-La Hotel. A registration form is available from the VALL website.
