Huge news from UBC: Their law school has been renamed the Peter A. Allard School of Law!

Alumnus Peter A. Allard, QC has donated $30 million to the Faculty of Law, which according to UBC is the largest gift ever to a Canadian law school. Of the gift, Allard said,

“My gift supports pillars of excellence in human rights, and international integrity and ethics, and my hope is that the law school will become a beacon for justice, and the promotion of human rights and the Rule of Law, around the world”.

The donation also establishes permanent endowments to benefit students and faculty.

Allard’s previous major donation of more than $11 million supported the construction of the new faculty of law building, Allard Hall, and established the Allard Prize for International Integrity.
