TRU Law Authors Win Prestigious International Prize

March 5, 2014

Law Professor Richard Frimpong Oppong at Thompson Rivers University, and third year JD student Lisa Niro, have captured this year’s prestigious  James Crawford Prize presented by the Journal of International Dispute Settlement.

Their article, “Enforcing Judgements of International Courts in National Courts”, is set to be published in the second issue of the 2014 Journal of International Dispute Settlement, a leading peer-reviewed journal published by Oxford University Press.

The Award Committee commended the article as being of “exceptional quality”, and stated that it “tackles a major problem of long-term interest, has made significant contributions to that problem, and is written in a lucid and convincing manner.”

The article resulted from a “two-year SSHRC funded research project on access to justice at the post-adjudication phase of international dispute settlement.” Ms. Niro was the research assistant on this project.
