Professor Jamie Cassels, QC, former Dean of UVic’s law school, has been named the incoming President of UVic. His term begins on July 1, 2013. Cassels’ appointment came after an extensive search and it received unanimous approval from UVic’s board of governors.
Before being named as President of UVic, Cassels was vice-president academic and provost at UVic for nine years and before that, he was the Dean of the law school. He is a well-known legal scholar and a talented university administrator.
Professor Cassels will be the seventh president in UVic’s 50 year history. He has been appointed to a 5 year term.
