Monday marked the introduction of a new Family Law Act for BC. The proposed legislation would replace the Family Relations Act.
According to JP Boyd (see links below), the legislation addresses issues such as children & child support, mobility, spousal support, division of property and of debt, and court processes. It covers assisted reproduction, an area that until now was only covered by federal and common law. It also emphasizes out-of-court resolution of disputes, such an counseling, mediation, and arbitration.
