Via Courthouse Libraries BC and Access Pro Bono, JP Boyd has produced a 27-page guide to BC’s new Family Law Act coming into force in March of 2013, aimed at justice system workers and advocates.

A Very Brief Introduction to the Family Law Act for Justice System Workers and Advocates gives explanations of who the new law applies to, what sorts of legal issues it will cover, and how family issues will be resolved, and then goes on to describe the new law’s provisions related to:

  • children
  • child support
  • spousal support
  • dividing property and debt
  • family violence and protection orders
  • out of court processes
  • court processes
  • transitional provisions

Boyd encourages folks to, “download and to distribute, reproduce and reuse as you’d like, as long as it’s not for a commercial purpose.”
