Mediate BC’s Training & Development Department (TDD) is an important part of Mediate BC’s effort “to reduce the public’s reliance on the formal justice system by fostering better conflict management skills among individuals, communities and organizations, as well as increase public’s access to well-trained conflict resolution practitioners.”
TDD has three major goals, which are as follows:
- Build public awareness of conflict management options, pathways and resources, which would include Mediate BC;
- Build capacity in organizations for effective communication and conflict management skills;
- Provide high quality professional development and advanced training in conflict resolution skills for skilled mediators and other conflict resolution professionals.
In order to meet these goals, the TDD organizes monthly public education seminars, on-demand webinars, workshops, and has forged relationships with other agencies. The TDD also offers consulting, training and coaching, and conflict assessment.
