The Clicklaw Blog reports that the BC Legal Services Society has devoted a portion of their website to Aboriginal legal issues.
The new section “has information about the issues that are important to Aboriginal people and the help that legal aid and other groups can give,” including:
- The Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement
- Gladue (aboriginal legal) rights
- Child protection and aboriginal cultural issues
- Wills and estates on reserves
Also included are extensive lists of aboriginal law information publications and organizations across BC that can help those faced with legal issues, such as legal aid offices, friendship centres, counselling services, victim outreach and shelters, etc.
