The Law Society of BC notes that:
“In July 2011, the Legal Services Society began funding the Gladue report disbursement pilot project. Tariff lawyers can request a Gladue report as an expert report disbursement for bail, sentencing, and appeals. Once a report has been approved, LSS will assign an LSS-certified writer from its roster. The pilot project is effective from July 1, 2011 to March 31, 2012, during which LSS will evaluate the project.”
Clients who self-identify as Aboriginal have rights under section 718.2(e) of the Criminal Code, or Gladue rights. For more information on the Gladue report disbursement project, see the LSS flyer.
