On Friday, the Law Society of BC announced the creation of a new scholarship for Aboriginal graduate students studying in the field of law.
According to the Law Society:
“The $12,000 annual award aims to enhance the retention of Aboriginal lawyers by supporting the development of Indigenous leaders and role models in the legal academic community. Retaining Aboriginal lawyers in the profession is one of the key objectives in the Society’s 2012-2014 Strategic Plan.”
It is expected that the first scholarship will be awarded in 2013; more details are forthcoming and will be published on the LSBC website. See the press release here.
