A step in the right environmental direction, Premier Christy Clark announced on Tuesday that the province will initiate a new plan for improving current climate conditions.
The Climate Leadership Team commenced as a byproduct of the province’s sustainable practices and environmental success to date. The plan is targeted at supporting the growing economy while reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions. British Columbia’s Climate Leadership Team is mandated to display BC as a leader in environmental health and industry development. The Team’s goal is to boost investment in the province.
As reported, the Team will be held accountable with the following government developed schedule:
- “July 2015 – A draft framework for the Climate Leadership Plan will be produced, with a 30-day public consultation on the resulting discussion paper.
- October 2015 – The Climate Leadership Team will present its recommendations to government.
- December 2015 – A draft Climate Leadership Plan will be prepared, and a 30-day public consultation will take place.
- March 2016 – The final Climate Leadership Plan will be released publicly.”
