On January 31, the BC branch of the Canadian Bar Association opened nominations for its 2014 Awards.
There are four awards for which nominations are now open:
- Harry Rankin, QC Pro Bono Award. This Award is given to recognize outstanding contributions by a member of the CBABC in the area of pro bono work, including any or all of the following activities: Pro bono legal services to a client, assisting community organizations in establishing pro bono clinics, co-ordinating pro bono services and education and advocacy work to promote pro bono culture. - Equality and Diversity Award. This Award celebrates the accomplishments of an individual CBABC member who has succeeded in advancing equality in the legal profession or generally in BC. The Award recognizes significant contributions to improving the status of women, people with disabilities, people of colour, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered or two-spirited people or people who are members of historically marginalized communities. - Community Service Awards. The CBABC sponsors Community Service Awards in each county so as to recognize the valuable contributions of CBA members serving in the communities of our province. The awards honour CBA members who have demonstrated outstanding dedication, service and commitment to the community. Nomination forms are located here.
- Innovative Workplace Awards. This Award recognizes lawyers, law firms or organizations who demonstrate leadership in promoting workplace innovation within the practice of law. The nomination form is located here.
Nominations close at 4:30 p.m. on April 25, 2014.
