Bob Keating Wins Legal Journalism Award

As reported by the Law Society and Courthouse Libraries BC, CBC’s Bob Keating was the recipient of the 2011 Jack Webster Award for Excellence in Legal Journalism. Keating’s winning piece was “Banishment”, which tells the story of a Nelson man with mental health issues who faced a court order to leave the city.

The awards are sponsored by the Law Society and recognize “a journalist, or team of journalists, for a story about legal issues, the administration of justice or the legal profession in BC.”

The other nominees were Louise Dickson of the Victoria Times Colonist for “Crisis in BC Courts”, and Roberta Staley of  The Georgia Straight for “Crime and Injustice”.
