According to a post at Slaw, several of BC’s largest law firms have committed to providing pro bono consultations and reduced-rate legal services to middle-income commercial litigants, though a project run through Access Pro Bono.
Of the Commercial Trial Assistance Project, APB Executive Director Jamie MacLaren says,
“These large BC firms have signed on to provide affordable legal services to self-representing commercial litigants, but also to provide valuable trial advocacy experience to their junior lawyers—many of whom must otherwise wait several years before running their own superior court trial.”
The project is the first of its kind in Canada. Read the Slaw post for details on eligibility and background.
