Moot season is in full swing for law students at BC’s three law schools. Here are some of the highlights from over the past few weeks:
- Allard School of Law (UBC) 2L students Kevin Murray and Andrew Eyer won the Western Canada Trial Moot, a.k.a. the MacIntyre Cup, earlier this month. The duo will head next to the Sopinka Cup in Ottawa next month.
- The province’s newest law school, TRU, was proud to send a pair of 3L students, Kelly Melnyk and Olivia Harvey, to the MacIntyre Cup for the first time this year.
- At the BC Law Schools Competitive Moot, a.k.a. the BC Cup, TRU‘s team (Ravneet Arora, Taylor Topliss, Sean Manery, Erik Thorsteibsson and researcher Nicole Chang) placed second, while UBC placed first and UVic placed third.
Other moots coming up for BC law students include the Gale Cup Moot and Fox Moot this coming weekend; the Bowman Moot later this month; and in March, the Wilson Cup, the Jessup Cup, the Kawaskimhon Aboriginal Rights Moot, and the Oxford IP Moot.
Also of note, the Allard School of Law will host the 2016 Laskin Moot on March 4 & 5th, 2016.
