BC Chief Justice Lance Finch to Retire

The UBC Law Alumni Association is set to host a dinner to celebrate BC Chief Justice Lance Finch, who will retire from the Court of Appeal this June.

Chief Justice Finch graduated from UBC Law in 1962 and went on to practice law in Vancouver for 20 years. He later served as a trial judge in the Supreme Court of BC, and became an appeals court judge in 1993. In 2001, he was appointed Chief Justice of BC. From the event details:

“Chief Justice Finch is well-known for his hard work, thorough preparation and knowledge of the law. Throughout his career, he has given freely of his time and ability in furtherance and betterment of the profession’s education and teaching, through such roles as teaching at the UBC Faculty of Law and the Continuing Legal Education Programs, as a Bencher of the Law Society and as a President of the Vancouver Bar Association.”

The event, to be held at the Westin Bayshore Hotel on Thursday, June 6, 2013, will benefit the UBC Faculty of Law Scholarship Fund. For tickets, visit the event’s page at UBC’s Start an Evolution site.
