Access Pro Bono recently announced that it’s looking to fill up to three vacancies on its volunteer Board of Directors, which is made up of “lawyers and non-lawyers from across BC who share a dedication to the pursuit of equal access to justice for all British Columbians”.
Candidates may be located anywhere in BC but APB is particularly looking for individuals who are familiar with the legal needs of low income Vancouver Island, Kootenay or Northern BC residents; have non-profit fundraising experience; demonstrated engagement in providing or facilitating pro bono legal services; and/or reflect the province’s diversity through physical abilities, gender, ethnicity or cultural perspective.
Directors serve two-year terms that are renewable to a maximum of three consecutive terms. The time commitment — which includes attending board or committee meetings, leadership, financial oversight, policy works, supporting and attending community events, as well as fundraising — is four to six hours a month.
Anyone interested should submit their cover letter and resume to APB by October 1, 2014. See more details on the organization’s website.
